Designing Feedback for Holistic Revisionwill focus on productive ways to respond to student writing, as well as strategies to assist students in understanding revision as a recursive process. In the spirit of the discussion, please bring a writing assignment you currently use that can be revised to implement some of these strategies. Join the Maine Council for English Language Arts for dinner and an evening of collegiate discussion. Building Proficiency-Based Units: Integrating Fiction and Nonfiction will explore how and why to cluster the Maine standards around a variety of text types and complexities to build proficiency-based units. We’ll discuss the philosophy of clustering standards and texts and offer several examples of units. Bring an anchor text, essential question, or topic around which you’d like to develop your own unit. Presented by teachers Beth Carlson, Kennebunk High School, and Courtney McCann, Marswhood High School.
